Project
Nabra, reflects on recent Nubian history and the socio-economic reality around Aswan and Kom Ombo. Through photographs on sandpaper and anthotypes made with turmeric from Elephantine Island, Nigel Grey Dubois explores loss, resilience and material memory. The work refers to scarcity, ingenuity and the Nubian villages now submerged beneath Lake Nasser, allowing traces of a displaced culture to remain present.
